Python builds

Breakout Clone

A dual-implementation Python clone of the classic Breakout game. Written iteratively using both Python's built-in Turtle graphics and the Pygame library.

A Classic Arcade Re-Implementation

This project features two distinct Python implementations of the iconic Breakout brick-breaker game, demonstrating progression from primitive graphics libraries right up to modern 2D game engines.

Technical Implementation

  • Turtle Build: A lightweight, dependency-free version utilizing Python's built-in Turtle module. Great for understanding the fundamentals of game loops and primitive coordinate-based rendering.
  • Pygame Build: A more robust and scalable version leveraging Pygame. This implementation handles richer mechanics:
    • Dynamic Collision: Advanced ball-to-brick physics and bounce deflections based on paddle hit locations.
    • State Management: Tracking scores, clearing rows, and transitioning between active and "Game Over" states.
    • Fluid Inputs: Frame-independent keyboard listeners for smooth paddle movement.

The architecture was intentionally separated to explore the constraints and benefits of using simple built-in modules versus dedicated event-driven gaming libraries.
